Basketball Court Marking Lines Dimensions
The playing surface of the
basketball court floor must be measured and marked exactly as it is demonstrated in the basketball court diagram below. Follow these measurements for an official line marking basketball court.
The free throw lane would be marked at both end of the court at the sizes and marked like the court diagram.
Take into consideration that all boundary lines are part of the lane contraryto the lane space marks and neutral zone marks that are not.
When marking your court line make sure the color of the lane space marks and neutral zones will contrast with the color of the boundary lines.
The surface identified by the lane space markings are 2" by 8" inches and the neutral zone marks are 12" by 8".
The free throw line will be drawn (2" wide) across each of the circles pointed out in the court diagram. It will be parallel to the end line and will be 15 feet from the plane of the face of the
basketball backboard.
The 3 point field goal area possesses parallel lines exactly 3 foot from the sidelines and advancing from the baseline and an arc of 23ft 9in from the middle of the basket which crossed the parallel lines.
4 hash marks must be drawn (2ft wide) perpendicular to the sideline on both side of the court and 28 feet from the baseline. These hash marks must extend 3 ft in the court.
4 hash marks must be drawn (2ft wide) perpendicular to the baseline on each side of the free throw lane line. These hash marks must be 3ft from the free throw lane line and extend 6ft in the court.
4 hash marks must be drawn (2ft wide) parallel to the baseline on both side of the free throw circle. These hash marks mustl be 13ft from the baseline and 3ft from the free throw lane lines and will be 6ft in length.
2 hash marks must be drawn (2ft wide) perpendicular to the sideline, in front of the score table, and 4ft on both side of the middle court line. This will show the Substitution Box area.
Finally the half circle must be placed 4ft from the center of the basket.
